The 2026 FIFA World Cup, marketed as FIFA World Cup 26,[2] will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's soccer championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The tournament will be the first hosted by three nations and the first North American World Cup since 1994. This tournament will be the first to include 48 teams, expanded from 32.

As part of the immigration process, Garifuna People have tried to establish and adapt their traditional communal associations to the U.S. environment; these associations represent an important socialization factor and social development. Among them, are soccer teams and leagues. For immigrants, soccer became a basis for performing social relationships, and also of reclaiming a sense of selves. the practice of soccer among immigrants, especially those from the Global South, soccer has helped them create useful ties to their communities and a sense of belonging in the United States.
The Honduras Football & Social Club, Inc. filed its articles of incorporation on June 11th, 1965.The purposes for which the corporation was formed, was to provide for the mutual assistance, enjoyment, entertainment, and improvement of its members socially and physically by encouraging them in participation in some form of athletic or physical recreation.
Currently, there are two leagues in the Bronx, Liga Honduras Unidos, Inc. and New York Honduras Soccer league, Inc., they have similar purpose, to participate in enjoyment and growth of adult and youth soccer in New York City. Assist member teams and local communities in developing, improving, and securing quality soccer fields and facilities, and to provide competitions and programs that encourage participation and growth of member teams and develop, strengthen, and promote a unified Soccer Community.
