The birth of his children, in the early 2000s presented more responsibilities and he took advantage of managerial opportunities at the Elegant Hotels Group of Barbados & Antigua and China Regal Cruises, among others. In 2010 he had a yearning for self-determination and purchased a Cruise Planners franchise.
Cruise Planners is the nation’s largest home-based travel agency franchise with over 2,500+ franchise owners in all 50 states. Cruise Planners franchise owners own and operate their own travel agency business and plan amazing travel experiences such as cruises, land tours, and all-inclusive resort vacations. Travel is about opening eyes and hearts to new experiences. And creating memories to cherish for always!
Cruise Planners’ success is due to the fact that they don’t just focus on “selling vacations” instead they focus on helping you (the consumer) make the right buying decision. Lou’s grateful to have a chance to make a positive difference in someone’s life. He doesn’t think of himself as someone making a sales call, but as someone who is trying to be a force for good in the world!
Lou was born in La Lima, Corte, Honduras. The first of three children born to Luis Ramos and Antolina Velasquez de Ramos. They moved to New York City, when he was a small child, in the late 60s. Upon graduating from Dewitt Clinton H.S. in the Bronx, he enrolled at the State University of New York at Old Westbury. After one year he transferred to Baruch College in Manhattan. His studies were cut short due to the sudden death of his mother.
As the oldest child, he felt it was his responsibility to assist the family financially, therefore, he decided I needed a faster track to employment and enrolled at a vocational travel school called Southeastern Academy in Kissimmee Florida. Upon graduation he was offered a job at a company called Caribbean Holidays in Manhattan. This job led him to a better company called Cavalcade Tours and eventually International Travel Resorts.
Lou gives back to his community by supporting and promoting worthy causes such as public awareness campaigns for Garifuna Heritage Month.
